Tensions ran high at Delhi University’s School of Open Learning (SOL) on Monday as students staged a large-scale protest against the sudden and unexplained suspension of classes.

The protest began early in the day, with students gathering outside the SOL campus, raising slogans and holding placards to express their frustration. According to the protestors, classes were halted without any prior notice, leaving students unprepared ahead of their internal assessments and final examinations.

The demonstration disrupted normal functioning at the SOL building, with the entrance blocked for several hours. Although police were deployed at the scene, the protest remained peaceful.

At the core of the issue lies a glaring communication gap. Despite repeated attempts by students to seek clarification, the administration has not released any formal statement or explanation for the abrupt stoppage of academic sessions.

The protesting students are demanding the immediate resumption of classes, an updated academic calendar, and a structured plan to recover lost instructional time. The absence of a clear roadmap has raised concerns over syllabus completion, exam preparedness, and academic credibility.

This incident adds to a growing list of complaints against SOL, which has previously faced backlash for administrative delays, poor infrastructure, and a lack of academic support.

As of now, the Delhi University administration remains silent on the issue. The students have declared that their protest will continue until proper action is taken.
