The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has released a special date sheet for Class 10 and Class 12 students who were unable to attend their board examinations due to participation in national and international sports events. This initiative aims to provide these students with an opportunity to complete their examinations without compromising their athletic commitments.

Background

Balancing academics and extracurricular activities, especially sports, has always been a challenge for students. Recognizing the significance of both, CBSE has historically accommodated students engaged in sports by offering alternative examination dates. This year, with numerous students representing their schools and the nation in various sporting events coinciding with the board exam schedule, the need for such accommodations became evident.

Special Examination Schedule

According to the official notification released on April 2, 2025, the special examination dates are as follows:

  • Class 10: Examinations will be conducted from April 7 to April 11, 2025.
  • Class 12: A single examination date has been set for April 11, 2025.

All examinations will be held in a single shift, either from 10:30 am to 12:30 pm or from 10:30 am to 1:30 pm, depending on the subject.

Responsibilities of Schools and Students

CBSE has entrusted schools with the responsibility of informing all eligible students about the special examination schedule. Schools are also required to ensure that these students receive fresh admit cards for the examinations. It is imperative for students to stay in close contact with their respective schools to obtain detailed information about their examination centers and any additional instructions.

Preparation Tips for Students

For students preparing for these special examinations, the following strategies may prove beneficial:

  • Structured Study Plan: Allocate specific time slots for each subject, focusing more on areas where improvement is needed.
  • Utilize Available Resources: Make use of textbooks, online resources, and previous years’ question papers to understand the exam pattern and important topics.
  • Seek Clarifications: Do not hesitate to approach teachers or peers to clarify doubts or concepts that are unclear.
  • Healthy Lifestyle: Maintain a balanced diet, ensure adequate sleep, and incorporate short breaks during study sessions to enhance concentration and retention.

Conclusion

CBSE’s decision to conduct special examinations for students engaged in sports underscores the board’s commitment to supporting holistic development. By accommodating the unique needs of student-athletes, CBSE ensures that these individuals do not have to choose between their academic pursuits and their passion for sports. Students are encouraged to make the most of this opportunity by preparing diligently and approaching the examinations with confidence.
