In a significant development aimed at providing greater flexibility and opportunities to aspiring Chartered Accountants, the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) has announced that, starting from 2025, the CA Final examinations will be conducted three times a year. This change aligns the CA Final exam schedule with that of the Intermediate and Foundation courses, which were previously revised to a thrice-yearly schedule.
New Examination Schedule
Beginning in 2025, the CA Final exams will be held in the months of January, May, and September. This adjustment aims to provide students with more opportunities to appear for the exams and reduce the waiting period between attempts.
Implementation Timeline
- The revised schedule will take effect from the May 2025 examination cycle. The upcoming CA Final exams for the May 2025 session are scheduled as follows:
- Group 1: May 2, 4, and 6, 2025
- Group 2: May 8, 10, and 13, 2025
Additional Changes
In addition to the CA Final exams, the Post Qualification Course (PQC) in Information Systems Audit will also undergo a transformation. Previously conducted twice a year in June and December, the assessment test for this course will now be held three times a year, in February, June, and October.
Conclusion
The ICAI’s decision to conduct the CA Final exams thrice a year reflects its commitment to aligning with global best practices and offering students enhanced opportunities for success. This move is expected to benefit both current students and professionals seeking to advance their careers in accountancy.
