Earlier, the High Court of Madhya Pradesh ordered a temporary halt to the NEET UG 2025 results due to inconvenience caused by test-takers at PM Shri Kendriya Vidyalaya No.1 centre, Indore, which had a power failure at 3:30 PM.
However, the MP High Court modified the previous order and allowed the National Testing Agency (NTA) to declare the result for all candidates, except for affected candidates of the Indore centre. During the hearing, Solicitor General Tushar Mehta stated that the stay order on the NEET 2025 result was unnecessary for candidates affected at 11 centres of Indore.
Opposing this point, the petitioners’ counsel argued that releasing the NEET 2025 results for all, barring the affected candidates, would impact their participation in the counselling process, which generally starts within a month of the result declaration.
The MP HC Judge Justice Subodh Abhyankar directed that the NEET 2025 result be declared for all centres, except for the 11 Indore centre candidates. NTA has been asked to submit a detailed report identifying centres impacted by power failure. The next date of hearing is May 19, 2025.
Madras HC Puts Stay Order on NEET 2025 Result Declaration
Meanwhile, the Madras High Court has stayed the declaration of the NEET 2025 result, which is scheduled to be declared by June 14, 2025. As many as 13 candidates have filed a petition in the Madras High Court, who were affected at the PM Shri Kendriya Vidyalaya CRPF, Avadi exam centre due to a power cut caused by a thunderstorm.
Justice V Lakshminarayanan of the Vacation Bench passed the interim order on Friday after hearing a joint writ petition filed by the students. According to the candidates, the power cut in the centre lasted from 3 PM to 4.15 PM, and there was no power backup. Owing to rainwater seepage, candidates were shifted to a different location. Despite requests, candidates were not given extra time to complete their exam.
The Madras High Court has directed NTA to submit its response by June 2, 2025, ahead of the official date for declaring the NEET 2025 result.
The NEET 2025 exam was conducted on May 4, 2025, from 2 PM to 5 PM in 566 cities across India and abroad. Around 21 lakh candidates had appeared for the exam, which is two lakh lesser than last year. The NEET 2025 provisional result is expected to the released by NTA by the fourth week of May 2025, followed by the opening of the objection submission window for three to four days.
